Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com) Jason, great to talk with you again, were down to the top 8, tell me how that feels?
A. Jason Epperson: Pretty incredible. It feels amazing to be here. I am in it to win it and have my “Eye on the Prize!”
Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com) Last time we spoke you were getting ready to shoot your first short On The Lot, how has it been going working with the crew?
A. Jason Epperson: Things are going really well. Usually I am trying to do everything (directing, editing etc) so it is really nice to be here and concentrate on one thing which is directing. Also having other resources that are just as professional as I am and wanting to see a good outcome helps me to let go and focus on other aspects. Basically I trust everyone on the team so I can let loose and work on other areas.
Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com) Lets talk about last weeks short “sweet”. What a great short. Tell me a little but about what it was like to film “Sweet”
A. Jason Epperson: The idea came from my own experiences. A good story teller is one that can adapt to his audience, so finding a story that appeals to the larger audience was my plan.
Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com) You received some great praise from the panel of judges, I am sure that felt great….have you set a higher bar for your next film?
A. Jason Epperson: The praise was great and yes it does put some pressure on me for my next projects. Back home I was never able to completely focus on directing because there were always other commitments such as going to work etc. Here I am able to focus on one thing and have support when it comes to editing etc. I am really not that nervous just having a blast here and excited about the opportunity.
Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com) Now that you’re down to the top 8, who do you think your biggest competition is?
A. Jason Epperson: Will and Zach are probably my biggest competition. They are great at every level so I will need to stay on top and keep working hard.
Mark (RealityWanted.com) Was there another Action Week film you really enjoyed?
A. Jason Epperson: Sams. We work in a very similar fashion and think alike even though my background is in music videos.
Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com) Can you give us a taste or teaser of what we might see from you next time.
A. Jason Epperson: Well as you know it is a romantic comedy so based off a 50 year class reunion. I am going to bring some hip hop style into this one so watch out.
Q. Mark (RealityWanted.com) Is there a genre you would like to cover that you haven’t had to chance to do yet?
A. Jason Epperson: I like suspense and thrillers such as Twilight Zone. There might be an opportunity to some we’ll see.
