Fat March - First Episode Preview and Trainer Bios!
With Fat March Airing 9pm PST/8pm CST this Monday, August 6, I thought I’d post this preview of the first episode per ABC. Looks like there is quite a bit of excitement to look forward to, and I know I can’t wait!
In the premiere, “Episode 101,” a huge surprise awaits the 12 contestants when they learn they will not be living in a mansion to lose the weight, but will be expected to walk over 570 miles to melt off the pounds, camping along the way. The march begins at the starting line of the Boston Marathon, where contestants walk alongside America’s fittest athletes.
During the first stage of the journey, they will take on their first exercise-based challenge in Massachusetts, harvesting cranberries in a flooded bog. The luxury prize for this test is a gourmet healthy meal and a night’s stay at a luxe cranberry-themed bed and breakfast.
Along the way, as they also hike through Rhode Island and Connecticut, one contestant, suffers a medical emergency and another has an emotional meltdown. Each competitor suffers through uncomfortable soreness and a fight against the elements that take significant wear and tear on their bodies.
Now, who’s going to be leading these marchers?
Steve Pfiester
Steve Pfiester owns and operates a fitness club and spa for women in Vero Beach, Florida with his wife, Bonnie. He graduated magnum cum laude in Physical Therapy from Florida A&M University and has thirteen years of experience as a personal trainer and kickboxing instructor.
He currently trains nationally ranked and qualified figure competitors. Steve placed first in twelve championship body building contests, including the 2007 NPC Diamond Classic, 2005 Central Florida District Championships, 2002 NPC Capital City Classic, 2002 NPC Northwest Florida Championships and 2000 South Seven Championships. He took overall champion of the 2002 Northwest Florida, 1998 Mr. Tallahassee and 1998 Northwest Florida Bodybuilding Championships.
Lorrie Henry
Lorrie Henry has worked as a certified trainer and operating manager with some of the largest fitness brands in the country, including LA Fitness, Bally’s and Q Sports Club. She is currently independently training at Don Robinson’s Chiseled Gym, Carlos Fuller‘s Fitness Clinic and Life Start Wellness Center in Phoenix, and is co-owner and operator of an independent training service, No Excuse Fitness.
She has been in the fitness industry for over 15 years and is a National Level Figure competitor. Lorrie’s most recent win was the Arizona Masters Figure 2006. A big advocate for helping individuals find their own lifestyle of fitness, she is currently working on a project with US Airways in Tempe, Arizona, in which she hopes to launch a fitness lunch program.
A big believer in giving back to her community, she volunteers her services with many local youth sports clinics and clubs to offer conditioning programs to young aspiring athletes. She attributes her incredible sense of discipline to her four years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and overcoming life obstacles associated with having been an orphan and living in an orphanage.
As an adult who struggled with her own weight loss, eventually losing 70 pounds, Lorrie has real life experience in the daily effort required to find that healthy balance of motivation, fitness and healthful eating. She lives with her husband of 16 years, Hugh, and daughter, Trianna, in Arizona.
