Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: What got you interested in doing Survivor? Did you watch it in the past and go, I can do that!
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: That exactly it. I saw it and I said I could do that. I love being in the outdoors and traveling. I love to see the world. I want to see the world before it goes to hell in a hell basket. It’s the social aspect of things that I have had a hard time wrapping my hands around.
Q. Mark: Had you watched many of the prior seasons and if so does any former cast member stick out in your mind?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: Due to me travels I have not been able to see a full season start to finish but I did like Rupert and I also liked the Cook Islands.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: What was the hardest challenge on Survivor China?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: The challenges were insanely hard, but the one that was the hardest for me was the battering ram challenge. It was very hot that day and I had worked way too long and didn’t get enough food and water. I started seeing the stars during the challenge.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Did you ever think your personality might be to overbearing? You did say when you got back to camp maybe your slave driving was too hard.
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: I’m definitely not an introvert so anything I do generally tends to stick out. In this environment you’re playing the gossip game and you’re always trying to make chess like moves. There were some points when I knew that anything I would have changed would not have helped. I tried to pass the leadership role on to others but it may have been too late. I think I had bull’s-eye on my back from day one.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Why do you think you had a bulls-eye on your back so early?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: Even during the casting process I got looks from other contestants. I stuck out too much.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Do you think the kidnapping hurt you?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: I think the kidnapping definitely added some decisive direction to me getting ousted. Even Jamie said I looked too happy to go see other tribe. What’s not to be happy with, they were nice people. What you didn’t see was the new alliance I had made with Fei Long while I was kidnapped. If I would have stayed, I would have helped Fei Long take my tribe out one by one, once the two merged.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: I found it funny when you went to hug James that he said you had already talked about that not to do it again.
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: James is not very touchy feely guy and he is a big man. I was grateful to have a positive taste in my mouth. It was playful and a joke. James seems quiet, but he is really funny, and has a lot of personality that hasn’t come out yet.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Did Fei Long seem to get along better as a tribe?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: They had their own hurdles and cases of egos. It just wasn’t a dominate factor in their game play and in their getting along. They pulled together as a team better and had their eye on the prize and not one another’s ego. It was nice to be there and see conversational contrast, but it was dealt with maturely and they kept moving forward.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: What about Ashley Massaro? You guys really butted heads right away.
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: There was a lot being said and not a lot of action and even that what was said was real half baked. You have people suggesting what to do without action. I couldn’t hear that crap anymore. It was easy for her to interrupt people. I sank to a level not conducive or appropriate, and I apologized. She was also very sick. The problem I had with her is that she wasn’t aware of what was going on. On the first challenge she had her shoe untied as we were about to run through a swamp, couple that with bad attitude and complaining.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Anything surprise you last night when you watched the show?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: It was interesting to see the attitude of my tribe when I was gone.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Have you gone online and looked at what people are saying about you and the show?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: Wow, Those people need to get a life. I have read blogs and forum posts. One of which said I should be skinned alive and have my organs fed to the birds. People should be able to have an opinion but the harshness and tone is a bit much. I would suggest some of these people leave the computer alone for a while and get out and do something with their life.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: What did you learn/walk away with after this experience?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: Exploring a county that is so unusual and different in so many ways with the cultural barriers and environment was very cool It was a real pleasure to be in China. I look forward to going back.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Do you have a myspace you can share for fans of Dave and Survivor China?
A. Dave Cruser Survivor China: Sure, I just set it up. It is ___________
