Interview with David Griffin from The Biggest Loser
Author's web site:

Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Had you watched prior seasons of The Biggest Loser? If so what was your favorite season or contestants?
A. David Griffin, Biggest Loser: No, ironically I never watched The Biggest Loser prior to being on it.
Q. Mark: I had a friend who wanted to ask another friend if they would try out for The Biggest Loser but she felt she might offend the person. Did someone approach you?
A. David Griffin, Biggest Loser: It was an old friend who suggested I try out. My friend is a nutritionist and she knew I was obese and needed help.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Had you tried various other ways to lose weight prior? If so what would you tell others to stay away from?
A. David Griffin, Biggest Loser: Stay away from the quick fix, like diet pills. You need to find a healthy way to eat, processed pre packaged diet foods are not the way to go since you need a balanced diet. I know most obese people, including myself, don’t know how to exercise or how to properly eat. If you need it, I would suggest you get a personal trainer to help you out.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: What are the biggest misconception people have about those who are overweight?
A. David Griffin, Biggest Loser: There are more overweight people in the US than there are skinny skinny. Most overweight people are genuine and good hearted people who just need a little direction. If you see someone in the gym take the time to say hi and see if they need help. Encourage everyone you see in the gym, it can really help others out.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: What was the best part of being on The Biggest Loser?
A. David Griffin, Biggest Loser: I am really glad I did the show. I didn’t know how much I could inspire others. We all need a little inspiration at times and it helps us all to see how much hard work and dedication can change a person’s life. I am also much closer with my wife and family now. Now that I can do more outdoor activates there are so many other opportunities for us to bond and do things as a family.
Q. Mark RealityWanted.com: Have you learned anything from watching the show that you were not aware of?
A. David Griffin, Biggest Loser: I learned that Neil’s plan was to gain weight and I also learned how whiny Amy was.
You also get to see what TV editing can do to you. I had an argument with Amy a few episodes back and the way it was portrayed on the show is not how it went down. I just had a bad day, we all do.
Mark: We want to thank you for your time today and I am sure your chat here will help others. Thanks again.
