Biggest Loser 4 – Episode #2: “Black is Back, Bring It!”

images.jpgAnd they did! A whopping 47 pound loss for Trainer Jillian Michael’s team after a tough two weeks working out in the hot desert sun. All the sweat and tears finally paid off. The six contestants, or “underdogs” as they call themselves, came back with a vengeance AND avenged themselves losing the most weight in Week #2, making them safe from elimination.

Jillian tore her team down, to pump them back up and make them strong enough to handle what lie ahead at the Biggest Loser Campus. She reminded the six rejected contestants they were just that, rejects. The other teams didn’t want them. It only made them push harder at their last workout before joining the game with the two other teams. Julie said neither team picked them now the Black Team is going to “pick them off one at a time.” Jez wanted to go into the weigh in “strong like a tidal wave.”

And, that tidal wave of shock hit the Red and Blue teams hard as they entered the Week Two Weigh-In. The Black Team standing together, strong, arms crossed with Jillian right there in the middle. Blue Team Leader Bob Harper, clearly surprised, hugged his colleague and friend, but had an air of nervousness once it sunk in what this could mean for his team. He knows Jillian is a “die-hard.” Red Team Leader Kim Lyons said, “No way! I can’t believe she’s back.” Jillian said, “Barbie and Ken can duke it out. I just want to sail my team to the end.”

Bob pushed the Blue Team hard at the Last Chance Workout. He encouraged his team at every moment since they lost this week’s challenge. He wanted to be the first to win the first two weigh-ins, something that’s never been done by a team on the show. The challenge had the teams run up flights of stairs, the top reaching 10 stories, flip on a switch illuminating the floor in their team’s colors, and run back down. The first team to light all floors and cross the finish line won a chance at immunity.

Blue led the nail-biting competition right up until the very end. Red Team Captain Phil, pitted against Blue Team Captain Jerry, took up the slack and the show’s oldest contestant fell a bit behind. Jerry beat Phil in the first race to the trainer’s on the premiere episode, AND, beat everyone in number of pounds lost at last week’s weigh-in. Phil said he wasn’t going to let the old man beat him again. And he didn’t, but only by a few seconds. Red Team Member David won immunity by flipping the right light-switch, illuminating all the floors with his team’s colors. He said even though the pressure’s off to stay another week, it’s not a ticket to slack off because he could fall behind.

Blue felt a bit down going into the Last Chance Workout, but Bob, with all his encouragement reminded them why they were there and what was MOST important, weight loss. He said even if his team lost the weigh-in, they did everything they were supposed to leading up to it. Kim’s team, however, wasn’t quite as determined to get those last calories off before the weigh-in. Leslye and Amy did a bit of complaining through the week. Kim said she was sick of their “whining” and frankly, I was too. I could name at least two dozen people who would gladly have taken her spot on the show, to take advantage of the help that lay out before them.

Bob’s Blue Team did make their goal of winning two weighs in a row with 43 pounds shed, only if the Black Team hadn’t entered the game this week, and accomplished what they hoped to do all along – WIN. The Red Team had a dismal 20 pound loss compared to the other teams, forcing them into the elimination room for the second week in a row. However, David won the immunity challenge and Bryan lost the most weight of six pounds, leaving those two safe and Phil, Leslye and Amy on the chopping block.

Amy. Sweet Amy. Whines, complains and moans all week. Leaves the last chance work-out, tries to form an alliance with her only other female team member Leslye, yet pits the men against her stating she can pull bigger numbers. She also tried to sway David into believing Phil was the biggest threat, and he should be voted off. But, had that happened this early in the game, it would have been a HUGE mistake. They need to pull big numbers at the scales to stay in the game, since their team is fading fast. Although Amy voted Phil as her choice to go home, Leslye got three votes making her the second contestant to leave the BL Campus.

Jillian said just before the Black Team converged on the other two, “the best warriors are forged in fire.” Let’s see who burns up the scales next week! Here are Week #2 Results:

Next Week on The Biggest Loser - Season 4:

THE PRESSURE OF TEMPTATION–The teams are put to the test for the first time with a tempting food competition. Each contestant will need to decide whether it is worth it to participate when they are put in a room full of unhealthy food. They have four minutes to consume or not consume the most calories and the winner will receive a three-pound pass that will be used to their advantage at this week’s weigh-in. In the physical challenge, contestants will participate in three different 100-meter heats against the yellow team formed by three kids. Host Alison Sweeney informs them that the winning team will receive a phone call home, making the stakes this week even higher.
