NBC has picked up a second season of the hit competition series “American Gladiators” (Mondays, 8-9 p.m. ET) it was announced today by Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment.

“American Gladiators” continued to flex its ratings muscle on Monday night, debuting in its regular time period as the night’s #1 non-sports telecast in primetime’s key demographic of adults 18-49, according to updated “live plus same day” viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC unveiled the 12 all-new American Gladiators ready to take on 24 fierce competitors when the ultimate competition show returns with a modern reinvention on Sunday, January 6 (9-11 p.m. ET). NBC is bringing back the classic competition series “American Gladiators” and will be auditioning both contenders and gladiators for the upcoming season beginning Saturday, Sept. 8 in Los Angeles before moving onto four additional cities around the U.S including New York, Chicago, Miami and Dallas.
